Completing the Managers in Training programme, Pam and Richard took on the Magic Roundabout in Andover in October 2004. Since then they've taken the business from strength-to-strength. But they're happy to admit they didn't do it on their own. Pam and Richard recognised that the key to delivering success to the Magic Roundabout was its people. Through a programme of team training and individual development, they brought new skills and just importantly a real passion back to the pub.
The proof of all the hard work is clear. At the start of 2005, The Magic Roundabout was struggling to deliver sales, but with hard work, focus, and a genuine commitment to their people Pam Richard have achieved outstanding results - growth of over 35% on last year.
Their success hasn't gone unrecognised. As well as winning an African Adventure in Kenya and a superb holiday to Cuba, they were area winners in three categories at the 2006 Hungry Horse Pub of the Year awards. Not to mention winners of the overall divisional award for Responsible Retailing Pub of the Year. All in their first year of pub management.
